"Não estou aqui para roubar a arte de ninguém e sim criar a minha", responde Charli XCX sobre polêmica de Marina And The Diamonds

Os fãs de Marina And The Diamonds e os de Charli XCX entraram em uma verdade batalha ainda ontem (10). Tudo porque, após serem reveladas as fotos promocionais do novo desodorante assinado pela intérprete de “Break The Rules”, muitos admiradores de Marina acharam o conceito tropical e cheio de frutas muito similar com o ensaio realizado por Marina para seu álbum “FROOT”, de 2015.

Ainda mais que isso, uma foto do photoshoot para o registro estava sendo comparado as imagens de Charli, a capa do single “Immortal”. Pouco tempo depois Marina And The Diamonds divulgou um tweet um tanto quanto suspeito a respeito, citando que “a imagem de uma artista é propriedade intelectual dele próprio e merece respeito das outras pessoas da indústria”.

Marina: ”Imaginação é uma propriedade artística. Por favor, respeite seus colegas.”

Charli XCX: “Eu acho que isso foi para mim. Se for, estou me responsabilizando postando algo aqui e mandando energias positivas”

Vendo a repercussão, Charli XCX resolveu publicar um grande texto no Instagram, pedindo desculpas pela “inconveniente” semelhança e afirmando que não tinha visto o ensaio de Diamandis, nem a capa de seu single. Ela apontou a confusão como uma coincidência e que isso provavelmente aconteceu porque ambas colaboraram com o mesmo fotógrafo nos dois trabalhos.

You know what, sometimes you do a photoshoot standing infront of a plant, sometimes you do a photoshoot in black and white, sometimes you wear purple eyeshadow. Sometimes you shoot with the same photographer a fellow artist has shot with. That’s just how things happen in the industry I work in. The image in discussion (not this one), which a lot of fans have been making noise about online, was from a photoshoot for a fragrance brand I have been working with for a while. The point of the shoot is to make the promotional image reflective of the packaging, as I have done on previous collaborations with them. This particular scent is a summer scent, with lemons and hints of burnt orange, the design is tropical, bright yellow with pineapples, palm trees and sunglasses printed on the can. The whole brief for the campaign was based around a tropical theme, which is what the brand aka “the client”, wanted. Hence the direction of the photoshoot. I had not seen the artwork for the Marina And The Diamonds (@marinagrams) song “Immortal”, and it was not an inspiration for this photoshoot or the campaign as a whole. I’ve seen it now, and yeah unfortunately it looks similar. It was shot by the same, incredibly talented photographer, and it’s a shame for both myself and Marina that this has happened. I’m not here to replicate or “steal” art or things that have already been done. What’s the point in that? I’m here to do my own thing and create my own art. As I’ve said, the image in question, which I believe Marina had previously commented on on the photographers Instagram, was for a brand based photoshoot for a tropical, lemon scented fragrance campaign (what was I supposed to do – shoot it in the snow?!). “Você sabe que, às vezes, você faz um ensaio fotográfico em frente a um plano, em preto e branco, às vezes você até usa uma sombra roxa. Às vezes você faz um ensaio com o mesmo fotógrafo que outro artista também trabalhou. Essas coisas acontecem na indústria que nós trabalhamos. A imagem em discussão (não esta) fez com que muitas pessoas fizessem barulho na internet, afirmando que eu roubei a ideia de outro ensaio. O conceito é tropical, limões e algo que vá agradar o cliente em meio ao que comprou. Eu nao vi a arte da Marina, e a inspiração desse ensaio não foi o dela. Isso parece obviamente similar, mas acredito que tenha sido pelo incrível e talentoso fotógrafo que fotografou ambas e isso simplesmente aconteceu. Não estou aqui para roubar ou copiar arte de ninguém, estou aqui para criar minha própria arte.”
